Suzuka 159 Astonishment

Suzuka 159 吃驚 びっくり

Yamato and Suzuka were strolling around. In his mind, Yamato affirmed himself that he won’t regret because he had thought for a long time before making the decision. Suzuka then stopped her pace and asked Yamato why he said those. Yamato was surprised. Suzuka asked if Yamato was serious and took her into consideration. Yamato told her that he had done that. Yamato then talked about Suzuka’s future, whether she would be a professional athlete and if she had given birth, everything would be affected and things will be difficult. Yamato continued that ever since she told him about the pregnancy, he had been thinking all these things. He said that up to the very end he still couldn’t understand. Suzuka was puzzled.

Yamato continued if those are the definite reasons for abortion and what should he do. He told her that he kept thinking and thinking but he still can’t understand it. Suzuka then asked him if that why he had wished she would give birth to the baby. Yamato told her that he felt sorry but if he put everything else aside, and considered his true feeling, then he sincerely hope Suzuka would give birth to the baby. Suzuka remarked that Yamato was being stubborn that way. Yamato agreed that he’s stubborn. Yamato told her that because of that he had made a vow that he would do anything. Suzuka asked what did he meant by anything and what he could do. Yamato explained that even though he will disappoint his seniors and the university, he would be prepared to work while he studies. It might be hard in the beginning but he wanted to rent a room outside and then work. Suzuka argued how that is possible but Yamato told her it’s possible. Yamato added that even if it’s impossible, he would also do it. Suzuka was surprised. Yamato told her that when he heard that Suzuka was pregnant, he was really very happy. Suzuka looked at Yamato who didn’t lift up his head. After a short moment of silence, Suzuka commented that those words are just one-sided. And then she told Yamato that she’ll give birth.

Yamato was shocked and felt to the ground. Suzuka asked what happened. Yamato replied he’s fine but he was shocked with what she had said just then. Suzuka commented that it was Yamato who wished for her to give birth. Yamato said he did but he thought she would oppose strongly. Suzuka told Yamato that she had also done a lot of thinking. Yamato was surprised. She commented on Yamato’s future, the expectation his senior had on Yamato and then she thought of what she really wanted. She then realized from the bottom of her heart, she wanted the baby. But she was worried with Yamato’s track commitment.

Suzuka then asked how long do Yamato intend to sit there and told him to stand up. She offered her hand and told Yamato to be strong. She added that since they have decided to keep the baby, they would have to face many difficulties ahead. Yamato had a thought and pulled Suzuka. He started running and said,”Good, then let’s go!!” Suzuka asked where they were going. Yamato told her that they are going for another safe delivery prayer. Suzuka looked at him and agreed.

Note: This is what Suzuka replied to Yamato, 「じゃあ‥‥」「私 産む‥‥」, translated as "Then, I'll give birth." Caption at the end: 壁は2人で越えられるはずだから
Literally translated as "Therefore, the obstacle is expected to be overcome by them"

P/S: Seems like Yamato and Suzuka are on the same wavelength regarding the issue. So, isn't it about time to break the news to the parents? And a wedding on the way perhaps?

Haha, guess I am a true fan after all.

I think the story from here will reshift to the relationship between Yamato and Suzuka's dad. Now is a true test on Yamato's earlier statement that "I'll never lie to your dad again" even though the consequence of telling the truth might get himself killed ^^. Suzuka's dad shouldn't disappear from the storyline that easily.

I still think that it's not going to happen. I'm still waiting for the track and field arc in university. It won't just end with, "they had a baby and they lived happily ever after"...would it? I mean, if you think about it seriously, with a baby....the whole, "number one in sprinting and high jumping" is pointless. The story will probably not be based on track..rather.."how to support a family"....LMAO.

Hey! Thanks for the spoilers! Wow, I don't know. For some reason I liked Honoka, but if Yamato ans Ashina are going to end up together (most likely) at least I wouldn't like if it is just because of the baby.

Fisherman I have a question. The "私" in "私 産む", does it mean that they are going to have the baby without telling anyone?

az_0k: please be aware that while JP uses kanji as well. sometimes, similar kanji can mean different thing in JP and CH. For JP, the kanji 私 means "watashi" which is "I". :)

P/S: Since I have translated that particular line. I wonder if you actually read the post?????

You know, maybe they might show that there could be a connection between Yamato, the baby, and track, like an inspiration for him to do better. I mean, if spoiler 1 is true and Asahina will have the baby, maybe it could be seen as something to inspire Yamato to run better in track and field, not only for him, but for Asahina as well.

V16: 137-146
V17: 147-156

Each volume should comprise 10 chapters excluding short omake.

I'm still really surprised by this. Track is (was, by now), Suzuka's "raison d'etre" (pardon my French).

They're both young and fertile, they can have another baby. Although at this stage in the relationship, does a Japanese woman always go along with what the partner/husband wants? Note that Yamato offered his opinion first, then Suzuka said the same thing.

Speaking of Yamato, if he really wants to support her he would get a college degree. Otherwise, will he be flipping burgers for the rest of his life and asking customers, "Do you want fries with that?" Suzuka's father probably will have something to say about this.

Anyway, this seems like a way to end the manga. Unless Suzuka aborts, you can't keep the story going on the conflict between Yamato and Arima, can you?

I'm confused...are they telling each other to give up their track futures...? Yet they seem so happy about it.

an article once said that... "a baby is a joy in the heart"

hehe... but raising one isnt that easy

@Flopstall - they can keep continuing the manga thanks to this new obstacle. It seems like theres way more to write about now, compared to what the manga would have been like if it was just about Yamato trying to defeat Arima. It would have been dull if thats all it was about, and probably would have ended faster. I for one am happy that theres more chaos to the story. I was getting board with the same "fight with each other and make up" crap.

The one thing that I hope to happen though, is that Yamato chooses to take care of the kid wile Suzuka continues her poll vault carrier. If she quits then theres really no point for Yamato to continue track. Even if he does continue and then defeats Arima, he gains nothing from it. Before it was to prove he could fallow through with the things he said to Suzuka, but now I think Suzuka knows he will fallow through with what he tells her. The most important thing is for one of them to get a good paying currier and the other to take care of the kid. If that dosnt happen then theres even more to write about in other chapters :)

Hmmm, any bets on the chances of Suzuka getting into an "accident" and having a miscarriage? More angst ensues, and they can still get to continue the track arc...

More drama that way - and the manga still continues... any takers? ;)
