Kotobukiya Sora Final Form

I have received my Kotobukiya Sora final form figure from HLJ this morning. It was shipped on 12th Sept., the delivery took about 17 days (~3 weeks). After the slow shipping, I was hoping that the figure would compensate with it worthiness, but much disappointment in fact. I had high expectation of it since it's special edition, but looking at the figure, I'd have opt for normal version which could have better painting quality.

Drivers of disappointment:
1. The neck was shorter than the depicted illustration
2. There wasn't so much articulations as they have claimed, I counted 16 so far.
3. A curve/dent in front on Sora's cap
4. The colouring was not impressive, with a number of places roughly painted and the metallic painting wasnt smooth
5. The left hand couldnt fit the keyblade nicely because of a insert, I had to switch the keybaldes around.

After playing around with it, displaying different poses and take photos of it, it doesnt look so bad. I still can't figure out all the 20 articulation points, I found 16 so far. However, there's quite a number of poses that I could articulate. Though a bit sad that the knee couldn't bend, primarily due to Sora's shorts. The figure looks nice from photo or far away, but not close.

I had this on pre-order before but canceled it due to too many orders, but I'm kind of glad that I canceled it as it doesn't look that great.

Adun, you're the lucky one.

I had high expectation because the Kotobukiya Cloud Strife I had was of decent quality. Should have expected it when I saw Kairi and Axel. I thought the special would have more focus. But they just changed the pattern and colour.

Lazy Kotobukiya!

Nice blog but you forgot to close the anchor html tags, causing all the links from Official Websites onwards not to works ;p

Only the quick links have anchor tags. Others dont, so I dont know why you would have a problem. They are all external links, I checked them and all work fine.

Thats probably because I am using firefox which is more strict in html standard. Actually I wanted to visit the music scores links but they are just text and not links to me, so i went ahead and view the page source and this is what i see (a href=" http://www.geocities.co.jp/MusicStar-Piano/4725/AIR/index.html"(/a) AIR Music Book

I used () instead of < > here since comments allow html.

Hey i got the same figure and i was a little dissapointed in mine to. Other then that the figure does have 20 articulate points theres like 4 on the leg, 5 on the arms, 2(but i think there just 1) on the body, and 1 on the neck. Also the thing i found wierd was i noticed your figure is painted better then mine. my figure seems to have an incomplete or sadly done painted job on the right shoe and left side of the shorts, but the neck seems long enough and its not as short as ur figures neck, the keyblades fit really well but not perfect, where u said they didnt, also im missing his necklace with the crown. I only have the chain but no crown.
my figure doesent seem to have this eather "A curve/dent in front on Sora's cap," but my figures hair dosent seem as pointy as ur figures hair.

Painting quality may be different for each figure since much of it were hand-painted. Maybe it's because of the photo taking, there are some poor painting job as well though not that visible. I'm suprised that there's difference in neck and hair since parts are machine manufactured. The keyblade doesnt fit well because of the fingers and the position of the insertion. It is strange that you don't have the crown. As I said, figures differ from each other and the sora final form figure fell below my expectation.

Yeah, I got Final Form, it has 23 points of articulation. But mine isn't silver like yours. Mine's white. But its neck is longer. But there was just a chain. But he can hold either Keyblade in either hand.

And for the record, all my Sora's have long necks but only one came with the crown (Valor Form). But they're all worth it. BTW, the thorns on mine's left leg are spraypainted and easily seen... >>

...read the back of the box, it says the figure won't look exactly like the illustration.

All figures would have that attached and it's common that figure don't turn out exactly like the box. But we are comparing to the promotional figure!

Based on my research with Play Arts action figures, there had been fake Kingdom Hearts II Play Arts action figures like Axel, Kairi, Roxas, Sora first form and Sora final form that had scattered outside Japan like virus.

Here are the indications of the fake figures. I am not saying that just because your's have one of the factors checked out, it's fake. Look more on the paint job and how the hair is done. Don't forget the box art!

Sora (all forms)
- The hair is not "translucent." Its paint seem muddy.
- chain without a crown
- Poor paint job and some paint had been scattered.
- Eyes are not vividly painted
- Cannot stand on its own no matter how you position the feet.

Kairi
- Hair is not translucent.
- broken left or right hand
- Eyes are not vividly painted
- Lips have no shade of red or pink.
- Poor paint job
- The hair looks muddy.
- Cannot stand on its own no matter how you position the feet.
- The box might say "Play Arts Sora" at the side.

Axel
- One of the eyes look erased
- The hair does not have the translucent feel and looks muddy.
- The mark on the face looks erased
- Cannot stand on its own no matter how you position the feet

Roxas
- Dull painted eyes
- The hair looks muddy and does not have the translucent feel.
- The sea salt ice cream does not fit in the hole of his hand.
- Cannot stand on its own no matter how you position the feet.

Universal
- All boxes are poorly printed with bland / dull ink.

D the Sage: Thanks for the information, it may be useful for those who want to check if they have purchase bootleg figures. Usually I would recommend people to check the box for the authetication.

Nevertheless, I don't worry at all since my figure was imported from Japan through HLJ, so there's no way mine will be a fake. :)
